Federation of Swiss Societies in Eastern Canada

Home Page

Dear Compatriots and Friends of Switzerland,

It all started with an idea back in 1977 to find a permanent location to hold the Swiss National Holiday celebration. Mont Sutton in the Eastern Townships was chosen. This year we can proudly celebrate the 40th consecutive edition of this event, which evolved from its modest beginnings to one of the – or perhaps even the biggest Swiss National Day celebration outside of Switzerland.

It is with great pleasure that I invite all Swiss Citizen and friends of Switzerland of all nationalities to join us to celebrate our heritage and the founding of our beautiful country.  This year we will feature the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, the canton Ticino, which is well known for its beautiful scenery, music and gastronomy. Once again, we have invited a musical group – the dynamic trio Tacalà to entertain you during the festivities.

I would also like to thank in the name of the entire committee the many volunteers from all Swiss clubs who give their time freely. The continued support of our Consulate General in Montreal is very much appreciated.

In order to reach out and involve the 2nd and 3rd generation Swiss, we have added some new younger members to the organizing committee who will be looking after the youth program which we will introduce in Sutton. We have also created a brand new, interactive website which is now fully functional.

I am looking forward to see you in Sutton.

Peter Fuhrer, President
